

Mary Jo was one of four children born to Herb and Hazel. Her father was a salesman while her mother was a homemaker. As a child the family moved to Edgewood, IA where they owned a tavern and lived above it. In later years they moved south to Manchester, IA and bought a new & used furniture business. In 1971 Mary Jo graduated from Maquoketa Valley High School, and on July 7, 1973 she married David Pinkston. They were married for 50 years.
After getting married, Mary Jo and David lived in California for a number of years before deciding to move to Longmont in 1989. Throughout her life, Mary Jo worked in different positions in sales and as a store manager until retiring in 2023. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, The Fraternal Order of Eagles, and The Moose International.
Mary Jo Pinkston is preceded in death by her parents Herb and Hazel formerly of Iowa, her brother Harold “Butch” Sprague formerly of Iowa, sister-in-law Sandy Sprague formerly of Iowa, father-in-law Doctor Pinkston, and mother-in-law Fern Pinkston both formerly of California. She is survived by her husband David Pinkston of Colorado, her son Derek (Kristen) Pinkston of South Carolina, daughters Melissa (Matthew) Fahrenbruch of Minnesota and Mindy Robbins (Richard Studebaker) of Colorado, sisters Phyllis (Lawrence) Lee of Iowa, Shirley (Don) Foley of Iowa, and sister-in-law Michele Pinkston of California. She is also survived by her grandchildren Eliza Kolstad, Damien Pinkston, Andrew Pinkston of South Carolina, and Isabelle Fahrenbruch of Minnesota.
A viewing for Mary Jo will be held Friday, February 23, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont, Colorado 80501, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 PM.
