Melvin F. Guse

Melvin Franklin Guse, 86, of Longmont, passed away Sunday August 9, 2015 at Longmont United Hospital from complications of a stroke.He was born August 21, 1928 in Gilead, Nebraska, the youngest son of Frederick and Sophie (Hoppe) Guse.He married LaDona Cain August 2, 1948 in York, Nebraska. He was a carpenter for many years in Colorado and Wyoming.He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Longmont. He loved fishing and camping and spending time with his family and friends.He was preceded in death by his wife, LaDona, parents Fred and Sophie Guse, brothers Albert (Bertha), Carl (Gertrude), August, Paul (Jean) and (Fleurette) and Erwin, brother-in-law Ray Cain, sisters Anna (Henry) Rentschler and Clara Guse and grandson Mark Franklin Guse.He is survived by his son Douglas Guse and wife Carrie of Rock Springs, WY, grandchildren Robin Hopkins-Guse of Lander, WY, Wendy Ridenour and husband, Steve, of Rock Springs, WY, Michael Guse and wife Delsey of Greenwood, AR, Shane Guse of Rock Springs, WY, Misty Guse and husband Christopher Miller of Spokane, WA; his son, Donald Guse and wife Kathy of Longmont, CO, grandchildren Daniel Guse and wife Chisato of CA, Brian Guse and wife Sharon of Longmont, CO and Christine and husband David Bolme of Knoxville, TN, along with 18 great grand-children, 2 great great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Lee Cain and sisters-in law Caroline Cain, Nadine Cain and Bertha Cain and his wife's aunt Kathy Cain.Visitation will be at 9:30am followed by funeral service at 10:30am on Friday, August 14, 2015 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont.
