

Michael Stephen Farley, age 82, born on September 22, 1941 in Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024 at his new home in Berthoud, Colorado. Michael spent his carefree childhood years exploring his hometown island of Port Aransas, Texas with his brothers and cousins and shared fond memories of helping his Pop at his boat building shop, Fred Farley & Son Boats.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James W. Farley and Mary K. Farley (nee Cannon), brother Larry N. Farley, son Gregory L. Farley, and his daughter-in-law Michelle L. Farley.
He is survived by Sharon Lenger Farley, his wife of 57 years, his son Geoffrey L. Farley of Chugiak, Alaska, his daughter Gabrielle Farley Scott and son-in-law Ian Scott of Longmont, Colorado. He cherished spending time with his seven grandchildren: Zachary Farley, Natasha McCleery, Sydney Farley and Caitlyn Farley of Alaska; Elliott, Field and Greta Scott of Colorado and his 2 great-grandchildren Aria Dubois and Thalassa McCleery of Alaska. He is also survived by his brother Phillip Hamrick of North Carolina.
As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the contented life he lived and his legacy. Mike was known for his many talents including wood carving, golf, and being an extraordinary morel mushroom hunter despite having red/green color restriction. He could conceptualize and fabricate nearly anything from designing and building two of his family’s homes to constructing functional furniture and making a DIY cat door for his beloved Tink.
He spent his fulfilling career after service in the US Navy in manufacturing drafting, design and engineering. He enjoyed reminiscing about being a Machinist’s Mate in the Navy on the USS Robison where he served on cruises to Hawaii, Vietnam, Philippines, Japan and the west coast of the United States in the ‘60s.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the medical team and caregivers who provided compassionate care and support while he fought cancer with determined optimism. Services will be held on August 9, 2024 and will begin with a visitation at Sacred Heart Catholic in Eureka, MO at 10:00 am followed by a funeral mass starting at 11:00am and then a luncheon in Father Dowling Hall. All are invited to attend. A private burial service will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in the afternoon.
Cremation is entrusted to Howe Mortuary & Crematory of Longmont, Colorado.
