

Morris E. Wimer of Longmont, CO died at his residence on Sunday, June 22, 2008. He was 92.Morris was born June 15, 1916 in Scott City, Kansas to Charles and Jennie (Coffin) Wimer. He graduated from Dodge City High School in 1936. Morris joined the United States Marine Corps in 1940 and served for six years. He saw combat in the South Pacific Theatre and received the Purple Heart after being wounded at the Battle of Tarawa. In 1945, Morris was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California. There he filled in as a groomsman for a friend and at the wedding met the bridesmaid, Myrtle Hauglund. They were married three months later on November 1, 1945.After his discharge from the Marines in 1946, Morris went into the drywall finishing business in Castro Valley, CA. He owned his own drywall business here in Longmont since 1963. Morris was devoted to his work and never really retired. He was a member of VFW Post 2601 and American Legion Post 32 in Longmont.Morris was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Royce and ""Bud"" Wimer; and two sisters: Arline Davis and Dorothy Lee.He is survived by his wife Myrtle of Longmont; a daughter, Moreen Wimer of Arlington, TX; two sons: Dane Wimer and his wife Mitzi and Kevin Wimer and his wife Sandy, all of Longmont; four grandchildren: Dana Wimer Stinson of Colorado Springs, Scott Wimer of Longmont, Amber Fadduol and Marie Fadduol both of Fort Worth, TX; two great grandchildren: Nicholas and Christopher Stinson; a sister, ""Nita"" Folsom of Menefee, CA; two sister-in-laws: Esther Petersen and Darlene Hauglund both of Morris, MN; and brother-in-law Harold Hauglund of Locust Grove, OK.Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2008 at Howe Mortuary Chapel with Chaplain Katannya Walkker of Hospice Care of Boulder and Broomfield Counties officiating.In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Hospice Care of Boulder and Broomfield Counties, 2594 Trailridge Drive East, Lafayette, Co 80026.
