

Nancy B. Durham of Longmont passed away December 4, 2014 at Berthoud Living Center. She was 98 years old.Nancy was born on December 31, 1915 in Mansfield, LA to Delaney T. and Katherine (Pugh) Brown. She graduated from High School and attended college at Northwestern State College in Natchitoches, LA. After interrupting her college education to teach school for two years, she returned to Northwestern and graduated in 1939.She married Pinkney Graves Durham in July 1, 1939 in Alexandrea, LA. She lived in Natchitoches until 1999 when she moved to Longmont, CO.Nancy was a social worker for the state of Louisiana where she worked with many different types of clients from seniors to aid to dependent children, and for the last few years of her career she helped children of neglect and abuse. Nancy retired in 1977.She belonged to the Westside Baptist Church in Natchitoches, LA; and was a very active member in the Women's Missionary Union. She was a member of the Eastern Star organization in Louisiana and served as the pianist for many years.Nancy enjoyed traveling with her sisters to Europe, China and Australia; and motorcoach trips from Dallas to New England, California and Canada.She was preceded in death by her husband Pinkney on October 14, 1970, her son Pinkney, Jr., her parents, three brothers, Dwight, Lowell and Herbert Brown; and three sisters, Thelma Bryan, Fern Bardin and Delaney Long.Nancy is survived by her daughter Sylvia Henderson of Longmont; her grandchildren Alisa Bruntz, Amy Gallaher and Larry Henderson, Jr.; and her great-grandchildren Joshua Bruntz, Veronica Henderson-Davis, Ira Ah, Ezekiel Ah, Annika Gallaher, Jake Gallaher and Akira Mann.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 27 at 2:00 pm at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont.
