

Nell Blackmore passed away August 11, 2016 at her home in Firestone, CO. She was 73 years old. Nell was born on October 27, 1942 in Seattle, WA to George W. and Lakeley (Bellah) Snider. As a child of a senior Naval Officer she had moved a dozen times, attending 13 different schools before graduating high school. She attended schools in Washington DC, Hawaii, Texas, Florida, California, Colorado (Colorado Springs), and graduated from Grandview, Missouri, High School. She studied medical technology in Boston, sociology in Virginia, and eventually earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Social Work at Colorado State University Fort Collins, and courses of Theology attending at the same time as one of her daughters Sue, and the first of three generations to attend the institution. She married Richard Blackmore on May 5, 1962 in Joplin, MO. she continued her military travelling as an Air Force spouse, traveling and raising their children throughout the world. Together they moved to Colorado in 1977 and to Longmont in 1983. She volunteered for multiple organizations including the American Red Cross, the O.U.R. Center in Longmont, and the Senior Center in Frederick. Her extensive travel and warm heart made it possible to love all whom she met and be loved by all. In her later years there were periods of times of great worldwide turmoil that she would not leave the house without wearing a hijab in solidarity with the suffering of Muslim women worldwide. She was very involved in her church St. Brigit Episcopal Church in Frederick. Nell loved sewing, knitting, needlepoint, reading; and was a diehard Colorado Rockies Fan. She enjoyed going on train and motorcycle rides, traveling; and she loved her grandchildren.Nell was preceded in death by her husband Richard; her parents; and her sister Barbara.She is survived by her brother Barie Baz Wayne (Aileen) Snider; her son Richard II (Linda) Blackmore; her daughters Sue Lynn (Charlie) Boyette and Vicki Lynn (Darren) Morrison; her grandchildren Stuart Morrison, Ryan (Amber) Schuler, Nigel Morrison; her close friend and roommate Rosemarie Sibert who was there for her during recent medical ailments; and numerous close friends.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday August 16, 2016 at St. Brigit Episcopal Church in Frederick, CO. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Brigit Episcopal Church.
