

Patrick George Shaw, age 72, died peacefully at his home on September 8, 2017 due to complications with cancer.He was born in Lancaster, CA on June 16, 1945, the son of James and Evelyn (Rice) Shaw and moved to Longmont in 1956. He graduated from Longmont High School in 1963. Soon after graduation, Pat joined the Navy to serve his country during the Vietnam War. He received an honorable discharge in August of 1966.Pat married Donna Jean Darrington from Greeley in June of 1967. They have one child, Kerri Lynn (Shaw) Appleton. Later divorced, he married Betty Ann Reiner in 1984. After 27 years of marriage Betty passed away. Reconnecting with Donna a few years later, they remarried in April of 2013.Pat was employed briefly at IBM, then worked for The City of Longmont in the Street Department for 25 years, retiring in 2000.Pat's true passion was Street Rodding and custom car building, he attended countless rod runs and car shows over a span of 47 years. He worked tirelessly as an inspector with NSRA (National Street Rod Assoc.) to better the safety of the sport of Street Rodding.Always active in the community, one of Pat's favorite events was the Annual Veteran's Day Parade where for the past 28 years he proudly drove Longmont's World War II Widows in the parade in his 1948 Convertible Pontiac.Pat is survived by his wife Donna, daughter Kerri, stepdaughter Carrie Dianne (Reiner) Parker and stepson Trenton Wade Reiner, his brother Mike Shaw and his wife Ginny, sister Cindy (Shaw) Wagner and Willie Gonzales.He was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Evelyn Shaw and his 2nd wife Betty.Pat's Memorial service and reception will be held at 11:00 AM, September 21st, 2017 at New Creation Church at 737 Bross St. in Longmont. The service will be preceded by a Memorial Cruise down Main St. from 21st to 3rd Ave, ending at the New Creation Church on Bross. We encourage all friends of Pat's to bring their street rods and classic cars for the Memorial Cruise. Please meet us in the old Kmart Parking lot on the corner of 21st and Main at 10:00 AM.
