Pennie Bessie Culbertson

Pennie Bessie Culbertson, 93, passed away October 2, 2016 at Life Care Center of Longmont.She was born November 18, 1922 in Greenville, North Carolina to William O. and Pennie Bessie (Hart) White. She was raised in Shelmerdine, NC.In 1941 Pennie married Jack W. McCullough, Jr. in St. Louis, Missouri. Jack lost his life in service to America country during WW II in 1945 while in Belgium. Pennie then married Walter B. Culbertson in Los Angeles, CA in 1947. They moved to Longmont in 1947 from Wichita, Kansas and to Firestone, CO in March of 1970.Pennie was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She worked for 30 years as a nurse's aide, with her last five years at the Longmont Community Hospital.She was a member of the Veterans Foreign Wars Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and the Disabled American Veterans, the Prestige Club at Longmont United Hospital, Mended Hearts group and TOPS. Pennie enjoyed many activities at the Dacono Senior center and the Evans Senior center.In addition to her first husband she is preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter Culbertson in 1989 and six siblings Rufus, William, Margie, Glennie, Irma and Jane.Pennie is survived by four children Donna Nichols (Rex), Jonnette Evans (Jerry), Walter Butch Culbertson, Jr, and Blenda Honstein-James, ten grandchildren John Nichols, Cindy Nichols, Tina Nichols, K. C. Honstein, Dallas Honstein, Jerry Wayne Evans, Laura Culbertson, Sarah Culbertson, Cassie Culbertson and Jesse Culbertson, several great grandchildren amd great-great grandchildren.Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:30am Wednesday October 5, 2016 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
