

Ray Mohn of Longmont passed away on November 2, 2008, at his residence, with family members at his side. He had been battling cancer for 10 years.Ray was born on October 25, 1932, to John and Mary Mohn in Milliken, Colorado. On September 15, 1951, he married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Brack, in Lafayette, Colorado. They moved to Longmont in 1955, and they were married 57 years.Ray was a general contractor in Longmont for 50 years. For most of that time, he built custom homes for couples and families, as well as some commercial buildings. Toward the end of his career, even after his retirement, he did a good deal of remodeling work, with his son Ron Mohn as his partner.Along with his passion for creating with wood, he loved building into his family, especially through the outdoor activities of camping, fishing, and golfing. He also enjoyed learning about Colorado and traveling around the state, surrounding regions, even up to British Columbia.Among the things that stood out to all who knew Ray were his construction and fishing stories, his integrity and honesty, his loyalty to and love for family and friends, his creativity and drive, and the joy he found in the beauty of natural and man-made creations.Preceding him in death are his parents, an infant son Ricky, and a brother, Dale Mohn.Ray is survived by his wife of Longmont; his daughter Donna Rae Watkins and her husband Bill of Longmont; his son Ron Mohn of Longmont; brothers Clyde Mohn and his wife Pam of Broomfield, Cliff Mohn and his wife Jackie of Lafayette; a sister-in-law Dorothy Mohn of Phoenix, Arizona; two grandchildren Tonia Manzanares and Brian Manzanares and his wife Chelsey of Longmont; two great grandchildren, Wesley Manzanares of Longmont and Jared Watkins of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, uncles, and aunts.Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, November 6, at the Longmont Church of the Nazarene, with the Reverend Roger Freels officiating.
