Raymond Arthur Dirks

Ray spent his childhood years east of Longmont, before moving west of Longmont in 1946. Ray lived his entire life in Boulder County. Ray graduated from Longmont High School in 1950. Ray was a farmer his entire life. Ray met Marsha Jane Becker while she worked at JC Penny’s in downtown Longmont. Jane would roller skate regularly where she caught the eye of Ray. With some help from friends Jane finally agreed to go out with Ray. On November 8, 1959, Jane and Ray were married at First Christian Church (LifeBridge Christian Church). Jane and Ray became parents when Larry Ray Dirks was born in January of 1961. Ray and Jane were married 62 years at the time of her passing in 2022.

Ray was FAITHFUL and he knew he was going to heaven, Ray attended Lifebridge Christian Church (First Christian Church, Longmont) for more than 93 years. He served however he could. Ray served on multiple building committees, served as a deacon and elder, was a Sunday school teacher with Jane for more than 25 years. Ray even provided help at times of disaster well into his 80’s.

Ray was a FARMER all of his life. He farmed with his father and brother on the Dirks Dairy Farm. They ran a dairy, built houses, corral and cattle sheds and raised the feed for the cows. While attending Longmont High School he participated in FFA and was even President of the High School section. Ray has been a member of Farm Bureau since 1980. Where he served on the board of St Vrain Valley Farm Bureau. He could look across a field, and he knew exactly where the irrigation water was going to end up. Ray served with honor in the United States Air Force.

Ray was a FRIEND to everyone all of his life. He and Jane would often host dinners at their home and while Ray was in the nursing home he became the social person throughout the facility.

Ray was a FATHER he loved his late son Larry Ray Dirks and longed for more time with him.

Ray is survived by his sister Dolores Myers and sister-in-law Sally Dirks as well as 9 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Marsha Jane Dirks, his son Larry Ray Dirks, his parents Herman and Julia Dirks, and his brother Albert Dirks.

Faith, Farmer, Friend and Father

A celebration of life for Ray will be held Monday November 17, 2025 at 1:00 PM at LifeBridge Christian Church, 10345 Ute Highway, Longmont, Colorado 80504, followed by a reception at 2:00 PM.
