Richard 'dick' Bicknell

Surrounded by his family, Richard D. ""Dick"" Bicknell, passed away at his home in LaSalle, Colorado on February 20, 2009. He was 73 years old.Dick was born March 22, 1935 in St. Joseph, Michigan to D. E. Bicknell and Mary Lee (Bare) Bicknell. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1953 and served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1957. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Michigan and began his career in insurance sales with Prudential. On August 28, 1965, Dick married Janice Pesko in St. Joseph. The couple lived in Michigan until moving to Colorado in 1971. For the next 37 years he owned the Bicknell Insurance Agency where he served his local community with character and pride.Mr. Bicknell enjoyed playing golf, spending time with his family, was an avid patriot and had a passion to defend the Constitution of the United States. His parents and a brother, Marvin Bicknell of Edwardsburg, Michigan, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Janice Bicknell of LaSalle, Colorado; son, Scott Bicknell and his wife, Lesli, and their sons, Garrett and Gavin of Greeley, Colorado; daughter, Traci Taylor and her husband, Kevin, and their children, Sara, C. J., Tyler, Tony and Kylee of Westminster, Colorado; and a brother, James Bicknell and his wife, Jeanne, of St. Joseph, Michigan.Cremation services have been entrusted to Howe Mortuary, Longmont. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1335 Francis St., Longmont with Pastor Kent Schnegelberger officiating.Memorial donations may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church.Please share thoughts, memories and condolences with the family at www.howemortuary.com.
