

Dick was born on March 8, 1935 in Evanston, IL to Albert and Estelle Schumann.
Dick was stricken with polio in the 1940’s. He fought hard to lead a normal life and overcome the limitation given him. He received two bachelor degrees from the University of Colorado, Boulder. One degree was in Business Administration and the other in Engineering Physics.
Dick met the love of his life, Bonnie Bishop, and married her April 13, 1957. They moved to Wisconsin where Dick got a job at A.C. Electronics, for 11 years. After moving the family to Colorado in 1970 he spent 25 years at Ball Aerospace. During his career, retiring as a Senior Manager, he worked on programs such as GBS, Space Shuttles and the OSO Satellite System. He headed many key programs with the Japanese.
Dick retired in 1994. They moved to Rockledge, FL where they fell in love with the water. They moved to Cocoa, FL a few years later where they found a great community and many friends at Oleander Point. A move to Colorado in 2010 brought them back to area they raised their family in.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie Schumann, sons Richard and Greg, daughters Sherri, Jackie (Bob) and Michelle (Willie), grandchildren Todd, Heidi, Zach, Jarrett, Eli, Zander, and Maylee. He is further survived by his “other” kids Sue Zwiebel, Lynn Becker and his beloved dog Harley.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, June 19 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the Howe Mortuary.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 20, 2011 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Kirsten Sauey of Bethlehem Lutheran Church officiating. Reception to follow at the home.
Donation is Dick’s memory may be made to the Silver Creek Education Foundation in the name of the Schumann family.
