
Robert Glenn Cooper of Longmont left to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 9, 2011. Bob was surrounded by his family at his home. He was loved by all of his family, friends, and everyone's life he touched. He was a very strong, kind and loving person.Bob was born on February 25, 1931 in Binghamton, NY to Francis and Lillian Cooper. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Lillian Cooper, his sister Mary Lou Hutchings, brother-in-law Robert Hutchings, brother-in-law Richard Tinder and nephew Michael Tinder.He is survived by his wife Thelma Cooper. They met and were married in 1952. They have enjoyed over 58 years of marriage. Bob is survived by four children, Judy Cooper, Sue Cooper, Pat Stoll and her husband Jay of Longmont and Steve Cooper and his wife Christy of Tucson, AZ. Robert is survived by nine grandchildren, Cara, Adam (wife Lynica), Chad (wife Ashley), Lee, Lindsay, Dana (husband George), Danny, Jamie (husband Desi) and Andrew and eight great-grandchildren Jordan, Clayton, Emma, Daelyn, Austin, Lincoln, Dominic, Murphy, (and a baby girl?). Robert is also survived by his sisters, Gerry Tinder, Peggy Carolan and her husband John; his sister-in-law Beverly Holder and her husband J and many nieces and nephews.He was raised in Binghamton, NY. He went into the Marines in 1948, he served for four years. Bob and Thelma moved from Endicott, NY to Boulder, Colorado in 1965 with their four children. He worked for IBM for 35 years and retired in 1987. Robert and Thelma moved to Arizona City in 1987 where they were very active in their community and their church. They volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul. They were active in the Chamber of Commerce and logged many hours of golf. Robert and Thelma moved back to Colorado in 1997. They volunteered for the OUR Center and Robert volunteered at Longmont United Hospital.Bob had been a devoted Catholic belonging to St. Francis of Assisi in Longmont. He enjoyed lunches with friends on Wednesdays and many car rides out in the country. He spent a lot of time with his family. He loved to travel. He took many trips all over the world with family and friends. He loved to golf. He also loved to watch the Rockies. Robert's favorite pastime was spending time with his family and visiting Black Hawk to win big!Bob will be deeply missed by all. He has chosen to help the scientific community by donating his body to research to save others.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30AM on Monday, August 15, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2410 B Trade Centre Ave. in Longmont.
