Robert (Bob) Franklin Fadness, 79, of Longmont, passed away Sunday, January 25th, 2026. Bob was born in Montevideo, MN on March 28th, 1946, the middle child of the late Herman and Ella Fadness. He grew up in Wisconsin, graduated from Whitewater High School and married his wife, Karen, in 1965. He graduated college with a business degree and worked in the food industry, managing operations in various pickle companies and eventually becoming Vice President of Operations for Schwartz Pickle Company before he retired.
Bob and Karen retired to the desert in northern Arizona where they bought 40 acres and built a house. Both of them loved the quiet, wide open spaces. While there, they became involved in reorganizing and managing a gift shop on historic Route 66. Bob also had time during his retirement to pursue his lifelong hobby of woodworking; making many beautiful pieces of furniture, clocks and wall art. After some health setbacks, Bob and Karen moved to Longmont, Colorado to live with their daughter, Lisa, and family; eventually moving to their own space. He spent his last years caring for Karen through her Alzheimer’s journey.
Bob was known for his intellect, creativity and sense of humor. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and favorite uncle and will be greatly missed. He took great joy in his family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Karen; daughter Lisa and her husband Michael; son Andrew and his wife Terry; grandchildren Gillian, Zander and Grayson; his sisters Sylvia Gleiter and Susan Fadness; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held this Spring in Wisconsin (date to be decided), where most of his family still resides.
