Robert William McLeod

Robert W. (Bob) McLeod went home to be with the Lord on December 23, 2017. Born February 26, 1935 in Faribault, MN to Laura (Wilkie) and Earl Southworth, and adopted by Dr. James L. and Janet McLeod after his mother’s death.

Bob graduated from Grand Rapids (MN) High School in 1953 and from the Minnesota School of Business in 1956. While working in the Minneapolis area after graduation, he met his future wife, Nancy Maass. They were married in February 1960. They later moved to Rochester, Minnesota, where Bob joined IBM in 1965. The family relocated to Longmont, Colorado in 1979 with IBM. After retiring from IBM in 1990, he worked at Woodley’s Furniture and Traffic Signal Control until 2007.

Bob enjoyed coaching youth football, mission trips to Honduras, Mexico and Oklahoma, and volunteering for numerous 9 HealthFair events. Bob was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church from the time he moved to Longmont. He was involved in the Stephens Ministry program, Promise Keepers, heading up the usher program, and serving on the church board.

Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald, Everett and Kenneth Southworth, and sister, Beverly Stacklie Slatton.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Leanne McLeod Rice (Tim); son, Michael McLeod; three grandchildren, Taylor McLeod, Benjamin Rice and Michael Rice; as well as sisters Loretta Haney and Gilma Jones, in-laws Sally Southworth, Lois Maass, Ted Maass, Paul and Carol Maass, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Longmont, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
