Roberta Joyce Steiner Rodgers died of natural causes at the age of 94 on March 19, 2026 at The Bridge Assisted Living in Longmont, Colorado. She was born on January 28,1932, near Briggsdale, Colorado to Paul and Grace (Madison) Steiner. Though Roberta lived briefly in rural Briggsdale; Lebanon, Missouri; Kit Carson; Denver, and Johnstown, Longmont became her home at age six.
Roberta graduated from Longmont High School in 1950, where she participated in the band (clarinet), the Booster Club, and the Student Senate. Growing up, Roberta worked for her parents at Paul’s Jewelry and Antique store. She met her future husband Ray Rodgers (Longmont High School class of 1949) in the choir at the old school on Main Street and they were married on January 29, 1951. Through the years, they welcomed four children, Vicki, Paula, Terri, and Bruce.
After graduation and early in her marriage, Roberta was a telephone switchboard operator for Mountain Bell. She also worked for Robbins Flowers, Lute’s Drug Store, and Left-Hand Water Supply. Additionally, Roberta was known as a talented seamstress, Master Gardener, accomplished pianist, avid bridge player, devoted mother, and excellent cook - just ask her kids! Roberta even made grape jelly from scratch every year from the vines growing in the backyard on Longs Peak Avenue. Roberta also volunteered for many years for the League of Woman Voters. Ray and Roberta celebrated almost 66 years of marriage before Ray’s death in 2017.
Roberta is survived by her children Vicki Peluse, Paula Rodgers, and Bruce Rodgers (Kristi) as well as Dennis Ehrenbock (Terri’s spouse). Grandma Bobbie’s surviving grandchildren are Megan Elkins (Jason), Angie Peluse (Kevin Delaney), David Laubhan, Matt Peluse (Whitney), Ehrich Rodgers, Cassie Rogers (Tripp), and Nissa Ehrenbock.
