

Roger Howell, 83, of Johnstown, Colorado, passed away on April 24, 2025. Born on December 15, 1941, in Ligon, Kentucky, to Edward and Viggie Howell, Roger spent his early years in Eastern Kentucky, moving to Detroit, Michigan when he was 14, and graduated from Western High School there.
A proud veteran, Roger served in the U.S. Army’s 1st Infantry Division during the Vietnam War. After his service, he married the love of his life, Gloria Ann Rea, on March 16, 1968, in Clawson, Michigan. In 1974, they made their home in Longmont, Colorado.
Roger had a long and fulfilling career at Coors Brewing Company in Golden, Colorado, where he worked for 26 years before retiring in 1999. He was a man of many talents and passions, particularly known for his love of bluegrass music, playing the mandolin, fishing, and auto mechanics.
Roger was a devoted member of several church communities, including First Christian Church and LifeBridge in Longmont, and most recently Connections Church in Johnstown.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Gloria Howell of Johnstown, CO; two sons, Roger Allen Howell (Christy) and Kenneth Martin Howell (Janelle), both of Johnstown; and four grandchildren, Jacob, Emma, Houston, and Hudson Howell. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Viggie, and his brothers, Rudolph and Donald Howell.
A celebration of life followed by a reception for Roger will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at LifeBridge Christian Church, 10345 Ute Hwy, Longmont, CO 80504. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Benevolence Fund at Connections Christian Church, 1011 S. Jay Ave., Johnstown, CO 80534.
