

Roger was born on May 12, 1944 in Fairbury, Nebraska to Edwin John Torbeck and Gertrude Heider. The family lived in Nebraska, moving to Longmont in 1950.
Roger attended Longmont schools, graduating from Longmont High School in 1961. An excellent saxophone player, he was in the high school band and The Rhythmaires. Following high school he attended Colorado St. University. He then entered the U.S. Navy, serving in the Philippines during the Vietnam War.
Following his return from military service, Roger joined IBM. He later joined StorageTek, where he was head of the Orders Administration Department. He would finish his career at providing trade show set ups at Golden’s for StorageTek, . He enjoyed coordinating these events, but more so the people he worked with. Recently, he enjoyed assisting as a driver for local dealerships.
Roger passed while married to Dianne Stugart Hanson. They were married on April 22, 1995 in Longmont. His previous marriages were to Debbie Coulson and later to Bonnie Reynolds. He and Debbie had their son Ken.
He was a “car enthusiast”; he bought, refurbished and sold numerous vehicles throughout the years. His passion drew him to Corvettes and muscle cars in particular. This interest he shared closely with his son Ken and would refer to their passion for cars as a “sickness“.
Roger was a member of Longmont’s Twin Peaks Men’s Club and the American Legion.
Preceding him in death was his father Edwin Torbeck.
Surviving are his mother Gertrude Torbeck of Longmont; wife Dianne of Longmont; sons Ken Torbeck of Coeur D’Alene, Idaho; Chad (Tina) Hanson of Firestone; Jeff (Jolene) Hanson of Grand Junction; a brother John (Doris) Torbeck of Los Altos, California; and 7 grandchildren; Kenna and Jade Torbeck, Colton, Colbie, Jaelyn, Jax, and Jolie Hanson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 19 at LifeBridge Christian Church with Reverend Carol Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at Foothills Gardens of Memory. Gathering with food and memories at Twin Peaks Golf Course Clubhouse.
