Ron Green

Ron Green of Lyons died January 7, 2006 at his home. He was 67.Ron was born on October 5, 1939 in Longmont to Raymond Green and Eileen Kirkpatrick Green. Growing up in Longmont Mr. Green attended Longmont schools, graduating from Longmont High School in 1957. He was a member of the two state champion football teams in 1954-55. An accomplished wrestler he also qualified for the state tournament in wrestling while at Longmont.Upon finishing high school, Mr. Green joined the U.S. Army, serving from 1957-1960. While in the service, he won several wrestling trophies while serving in the Far East Corridor.Mr. Green married Sandra Willson in Longmont on July 20, 1961. They were later divorced.A career electrician, Ron was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IB.E.W) Local #68. He was an Assistant Business Agent for Local #68 overseeing much of the electrical work at the Denver International Airport project. Prior to his retirement, he served as an electrical consultant during the construction of Invesco Stadium. He worked in the trade for over forty years, retiring in 2002.He was involved with the early development of the Longmont United Emergency Unit. He took an active role as a rescue diver and the Search and Rescue working with the Bloodhounds used for tracking purposes. He was a member of the B.P.O.E. #1055, Longmont. He was an accomplished fly fisherman, fishing the Colorado and Wyoming lakes and streams his entire life. In the past few years, he had taken up salt water fly fishing, taking trips to Mexico and Argentina a number of times.Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers Jerald and Kenneth Green.Surviving are his daughter Patty Tremolini of Longmont, a granddaughter Jessica Tremolini of Longmont, a brother Jim Green and his wife Debra of Longmont and a niece of Berthoud and nephew of Firestone. A cremation has been entrusted to the Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services.Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 15, 2007 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel, with David Bradshaw of LifeBridge Christian Church officiating. A reception and lunch will follow immediately after the service at the Howe Mortuary Community Room.
