Ronald Lee Pope

Ronald Lee Pope, Sr. 75, passed away April 27, 2018 at his home in Longmont surrounded by his loving family.He was born April 30, 1942 in Longmont to Henry and Pauline (Wagner) Pope. He grew up on the family farm near Berthoud and graduated from Berthoud High School in 1962 where he was active in FFA.On July 14, 1965 he married Patricia Rose in Longmont.Ronald began working as a young man for his Uncle Pete at Pope Implement Co. He had a diverse career that included farming in the Berthoud, Hygiene and Longmont area where he raised registered Herefords, he owned and operated Pope Water Service for over 25 years delivering bulk water in Longmont and Lyons and Ronald also drove a school bus for Saint Valley Schools for 22 years. All of these jobs overlapped, he was a very busy man.He was a member of Christ Congregational Church in Longmont. Ronald was active in 4-H with his children, repaired tractors on the side and enjoyed camping.He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Raymond.Ronald is survived by his wife Patricia, three children Barbara Finch (husband Alvin), Bonnie Bakes (husband Jared) and Ronald Lee Pope, Jr.; nine grandchildren Erika Hall, Amanda Hall, Conrad Hall, Lauren Edmiston, Briley Bakes, Jordyn Bakes, Michaela Thyfault, Chelsie Pope and Reaghan Pope and seven great grandchildren.Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Christ Congregational Church. Cremation will follow at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
