Ruth A. Ludwig

Ruth Alvina Ludwig passed peacefully from this life on July 21, 2016. She was born on January 1, 1927 near Hartland, Minnesota to Clarence and Mabel (Halvorson) Evenson. She graduated from Freeborn High School in June 1944, and then took a special 2 year course at Mankato State Teachers' College in Mankato, Minnesota. On a visit to relatives near Genoa, Colorado in the summer of 1948, she met her future husband, Lloyd Ludwig. They were married on July 24, 1948 in Hartland Lutheran Church, Hartland Minnesota. They lived in Tulare, California for 2 years during which time Ruth taught at Cherry Avenue Elementary School. They returned to Colorado in 1951, settled in Greeley, Colorado. Ruth received her BA in Elementary Education in August 1952 at UNC, Greeley. In 1968, the family moved to Longmont. Ruth was hired to teach in 1969, and this was the beginning of 18 years of teaching in Longmont at Burlington Elementary, Central Elementary and Northridge Elementary school.Ruth was a member of First Lutheran Church of Longmont for many years. After her retirement from teaching, Ruth volunteered at local Longmont schools where she continued to share her teaching talents helping students who needed that little extra. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Longmont Museum. Ruth was a passionate flower gardener. She spent many happy hours tending to all her beautiful plants. Ruth was also a talented quilter. Passing on many amazing quilts to her sons and grandchildren.Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Ludwig, parents Clarence and Mabel Evenson, sister Charlotte (Evenson) Nelson, infant sister Margaret Evenson, brothers Irving Evenson, Frank Evenson, Galen Evenson, Clare Evenson and infant brother Mervin Evenson. Ruth is survived by her three sons Charles Ludwig (Jean) of Pacifica, California, Bill Ludwig (Robin) and Jeff Ludwig all of Berthoud. She is also survived by her five wonderful grandchildren Kyle Ludwig (Mel) of Davis, California, Nick Ludwig of Loveland, Lindsey Ludwig of Fort Collins, Colton Ludwig of Pacifica, California and Calvin Ludwig of Fort Collins. A sister, Janice Orth of Pueblo, brother, Don Evenson of Owatonna, Minnesota and many nieces, nephews and beloved family members.Viewing will take place Tuesday, July 26 from 4-6 p.m. at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry Street, Longmont. Funeral service will be 11 AM Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 805 3rd Avenue, Longmont, and a lunch will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. A private family inurnment will be held at Foothills Gardens of Memory Cemetery
