
Ruth Ann McGaughey of Longmont, died June 1, 2010 in Gordon, Nebraska. She was 79.Ruth Ann was born on November 27, 1931 in Ft. Collins to Carl Dale Johnson and Ruth Elizabeth Preston. Ruth Ann was raised in Ft. Collins and Walden. She graduated from Mount Saint Gertrude Catholic High School in Boulder, Colorado. Ann attended and graduated from Loretta Hieghts Catholic Girls College in Denver, Colorado. She earned a degree in Home Economics Education. Ann was an avid equestrian, and was President of the ""Quirt and Crop Club"" during her years at Loretto Heights.Ruth Ann married Warren ""Mac"" McGaughey on May 26, 1954 at Saint Ignatius Catholic Church in Walden, Colorado. The McGaughey's would live and teach in Kremmling, Colorado as well as Scottsbluff, Nebraska, before moving to Longmont in 1966 to begin teaching and administrating in the St. Vrain School District. Ruth Ann taught 20 years in Colorado. Her last teaching assignment was at Longs Peak Junior High, where she taught Home Economics. Ruth Ann traveled with her husband and she attended several European cooking schools. She was a wonderful chef and enjoyed entertaining her family and many friends. She was active in PEO, several bridge clubs, and her children's and grandchildrens' many activities.Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, a brother Dale Johnson and two sisters Betty Sterry and Jane DeWitt.Surviving are her daughter Melody Bohlender (Rick) of Gordon, Nebraska; a son Miles McGaughey (Rosa) of Longmont; 5 grandchildren Adriane Johnson-Bohlender, Brady Bohlender and Ruth, Ann, and Karen McGaughey.Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 7 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow at the Grandview Cemetery, Ft. Collins.Contributions may be made to the Ed. And Ruth Lehman YMCA, 950 Lashley St. Longmont, CO.
