

She was born in Kiowa Valley near Roggen, Colorado. She is survived by her children, Sandra Fogarty and husband Tom, Jack Richardson and wife Patty, three grandchildren Tobin Waugh, Casey Waugh, and Kristi Richardson. She also had six great grandchildren, Jaya, Sage, Ananda, Sol, Tiffany, and Cody. She is preceded in death by her parents Ruth and Aubrey Reid, brother Fred and sisters Dorothy and Betty. She was born on the farm at home in Kiowa Valley. She became very active in 4-H, participating in many projects – foods, sewing, and farm animals. Her favorite projects were her steers which she trained and showed off at the fair, including the Weld County Fair, the State Fair, and the National Western Stock Show where she won first prize for showmanship in her class. She was awarded a trip to the National 4-H club camp in Washington D.C.
After graduation from Colorado State University (Aggies) in 1943, she was Assistant Home Economics Extension Agent in Weld County for two years. Afterwards she became the Logan County Extension Agent. She married Cordell Richardson in 1946 and they adopted two children, Sandra and Jack. They were wheat farmers in Kiowa Valley and Limon for eight years. Then Cordell became interested in Land Investment which resulted in moves to Limon, Wheat Ridge, Mead, Morrison, and ending in retirement in Longmont in the late 60’s.
Cordell passed away in 1990 and in 2002 Shirley married Don Stanosheck who passed away in 2017. Shirley enjoyed being involved in her church activities, PEO, and the Hover Community. She loved to travel and her friendships with people in the community were very important to her.
A memorial service for Shirley will be held at Longs Peak UMC Friday, November 18 at 10:30 a.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Boulder County 4-H Legacy Fund at Boulder County Extension, Box B located at 9595 Nelson Rd, Longmont, CO 80501, or Long’s Peak United Methodist Church located at 1421 Elmhurst Dr, Longmont, CO 80503.
