Sterling Markley

Sterling Markley, 60 of Red Feather Lakes, CO and formerly of Longmont, CO, passed away on October 24, 2017 at McKee Medical Center in Loveland, CO.Sterling was born October 31, 1956 in Long Beach, CA to Keith and Nadine (Pleshek) Markley. The family moved to Boulder, CO in the late 1960's and then on to Longmont, CO where he graduted from Longmont High School in 1975.On September 1, 1978 he married Janet Larson in Longmont, CO. That same year, he began working for IBM (until 1999). Sterling was skilled in computer networking and printing. Over the years, he worked with AT&T, The Longmont Daily Times-Call, The Coloradoan, Ron's Printing, D&K Printing and finally retiring from Lexmark, making lifelong friends along the way. He enjoyed music, traveling, good food and photography as well as tinkering and fixing cars. Unfortunately, he lost his battle with pancreatic cancer before he could really enjoy his retirement. Sterling was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet and their two children, Kyle Markley, of Greeley, CO and Alyssa Markley, of Omaha, NE, his brother, Stewart (and wife, Janice) Markley, of Freedom, PA and many cousins and friends. A celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 30 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St. Longmont, CO 80501. Memorial contributions may be made to the Larimer County Humane Society or ECAD- Educated Canines Assisting with Disabilities.
