Thomas Alonzo Youree

Thomas Alonzo Youree, age 91, passed away September 18, 2016 at McKee Medical Center in Loveland,CO.Tom was born December 22, 1924 on a farm in Clarendon, Texas to Charles Oscar and Ruth (Oller) Youree. At age 10 he moved with his family to South Park, CO and in 1936 to Canon City, Colorado where he attended high school.Before graduating, Tom enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served with the Sea Bees. He saw action in the Asiatic Pacific theater including the liberation of the Philippines. He was honorably discharged on February 19, 1946. He met his future wife Lois Rinn in church and they were married September 17, 1949 in Fort Collins, Colorado and making their home in Colorado.Tom had a wide variety of careers including as a highway engineer, school teacher- in upper elementary and high school, worked in heating and air conditioning and owned and operated a RV park and campgrounds. Thomas was also a minister in service to God, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. He never really retired.Tom moved to Longmont in 1980 from Lakewood and was a member at Grace Evangelical Free Church. He later moved to Loveland and belonged to Foothills Baptist Church.He enjoyed tinkering and fixing things, bike riding, hiking, playing baseball and softball. Thomas' liked to travel and he loved music especially singing in church.Tom is remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather and great grandfather. He loved kids.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lois in 2011, two infant sons David and Allen Youree, brother Ralph Youree and sister Alpha Sunny Wadleigh.Tom is survived by three children Thomas Eugene Youree, Glen Roy Youree and Kathleen Marrie Houde (Neal), four grandchildren Anna Louise Martin, Daniel Paul Youree, Michael Dustin Youree and Krystal Marie Houde and three great grand children Makenzie Layton Martin, Kadance Alyssa Martin and Daniel Paul Youree.Funeral services will be held 10:30am Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery at Noon on Monday, Sept. 26, 2016.
