Twila was born on September 4, 1934, in Delta, Colorado, was the beloved daughter of Albert Glen Vincent and Effie Lois Brooks. At the age of two, Twila moved with her family to Vancouver, Washington, where she grew up during World War II and experienced wartime blackout drills. At seven, her family relocated to Grand Junction, Colorado.
At just 16 years old, Twila married the love of her life, Robert Armknecht, on July 5, 1951, in Raton, New Mexico. Together they had two children, Randy Armknecht and Kathy Green. Bob deployed to Korea, shortly after he and Twila were married, and Twila returned to Kansas where she lived until Robert returned home, waiting tables and cleaning homes.
When Robert returned, their first home was a small trailer where they lived in Colorado Springs. Several years later they moved to Denver, where they lived until 1962, when they moved to Broomfield, Colorado to raise their kids. After the children were grown and on their own, they moved to Castle Rock, CO. In 2009, they moved from Castle Rock, Colorado and settled in Longmont, Colorado.
Twila dedicated her life to being a homemaker and was cherished as “the most amazing Mom in the world.” She also worked various odd jobs, including waiting tables, cleaning houses, and ironing for friends to help support her family. She also volunteered at her church as a part time bookkeeper.
Her greatest passion in life was her faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and she shared His love with those around her until her final breaths. Twila found joy in gardening—especially tending to her roses—and loved to read until her eyesight failed. She was an avid animal lover, adoring her “granddogs.” After her own pets passed, she even befriended and fed the local squirrels on her back porch.
Twila is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Leroy Armknecht, who passed away on December 19, 2023, as well as her parents and siblings Norman Vincent and Norene Perry.
She is survived by her loving children, Randy Ray Armknecht (Jo Bales Armknecht) of Longmont, Colorado, and Kathy Kay Green (John Green) of Parker, Colorado. Twila also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Lydian Bowley (Josh Bowley), Douglas Green (Cassandra Green), Justin Armknecht, and Randa Armknecht; and her great-grandchildren Ashlynn Bowley, Zackary Bowley, Kinsley Armknecht, and Carter Armknecht.
