

Vannie Lucille Schiessler-Stedry died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at Life Care Center in Longmont, where she had resided for the past five years. She was 93. Mrs. Schiessler-Stedry was born Feb. 11, 1913, in Dorsey, Neb., to Oscar and Vannie (Hooper) Newman. She attended school in Dorsey and later went to Lynch High School. On Aug. 30, 1930, she married William ""Bill"" Schiessler in Butte, Neb. The couple had two children, Jeree Jeannine and Beverly Jean.The couple lived in Lynch, Neb., for several years, moving to Ainsworth, Neb., in 1941. Mrs. Schiessler-Stedry worked at a number of jobs through the years, beginning with Omaha Cold Storage. She later did office work and bookkeeping for J.C. Penney, the Salebarn and See?s Cleaners.Her husband died suddenly March 24, 1971. She remained single for a number of years but married Vern Stedry on Oct. 29, 1977, in Ainsworth. Mr. Stedry died June 25, 1984.Mrs. Schiessler-Stedry was preceded in death by two brothers, Eldred and Clifford Newman and two sisters, Vivian Frank and Edna Morris. She is survived by two daughters, Jeree Beebout and her husband Turk of Ainsworth and Beverly Morgan and her husband Ralph ""Vernon"" Jr. of Longmont; a sister, Ardis ""Babl"" Smith and her husband Derald of Fort Worth, Texas; a cousin, Altine Hahn of Chicago; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.Hoch Funeral Home of Ainsworth, Nebraska handled the arrangements.
