Velda L. LaSalle entered into rest on August 31, 2025. Velda was born August 20, 1949, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, to Glen Jensen and Jeannie Angus. She had 3 siblings; 1 brother and 2 other sisters. All 3 girls shared everything - including their bedroom. During her free time, she would go ride on her motorcycle with her brother to get a little freedom.
Velda later proudly graduated from Boulder High School. Once she turned 18, she began her working career as a switchboard operator for Mountain Bell. Before retirement she celebrated 37 years with Quest as a repair dispatcher.
Velda married Gary D. LaSalle at a beautiful ceremony in her Mom and Dad’s backyard in Boulder, Colorado. The couple raised their 3 beautiful daughters together in Longmont, Colorado since 1979.
Her family describes her as a loving mom who was happy to always spend time with her daughters; always making time for a mandatory yearly family vacation. She was intelligent, yet reserved. However once she got to know you, she showed off her feisty and sarcastic self.
When Velda had free time, she enjoyed spending it reading or knitting things like booties, sweaters, stocking caps, or legwarmer's. Her knitting projects were typically gifted to those closest to her. When she wasn’t preparing her next knitting gift, she enjoyed fishing in Gunnison and Pheasant hunting in Kansas, always surrounded by her wonderful family.
Velda is preceded in death by her parents Glen and Jeannie Jensen, and her husband Gary D. LaSalle.
Velda is survived by her daughters; Tina and her significant other Brandon Worthan of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and Brenda of Akron, Colorado, Alicia of Spring Hill, Florida. Her siblings; Hannah (Don) Dolph, Glenda (Ken) Ranum, Jim (Pennie) Jensen. Her grandchildren; Jason Cooley, Ian Becker, Kayla Becker, Oryha LaSalle, Athena Worthan, Mason Shaver, David LaSalle, and Aurora LaSalle.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Velda’s honor to the VFW.
Velda was deeply loved by those around her and will be greatly missed.
