

Vera Belle Beshears of Longmont, Colorado, died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Longmont United Hospital due to injuries sustained in a tragic auto/pedestrian accident. She was 76 year old.Born February 29, 1932, in Enid, Oklahoma, Vera was the only daughter of Hurley and Maybelle (Bond) Beshears. She grew up in Capital Hill Oklahoma City, graduating from Capitol Hill High School in 1950. While attending Oklahoma State University, she was president of her sorority, Kappa Delta, a Mortarboard, and was very active in many different programs. She graduated Valedictorian in 1954. Vera later earned masters degrees in both psychology and chemistry, and had been working toward a PhD in psychology. Her quest for knowledge continued throughout her life as an avid reader and a student of history and Art.On May 17, 1953, Vera married Bill Wyatt, Sr. in Oklahoma. The couple started their family in Talara, Peru, before moving to Colorado in 1961. They divorced in 1983. Both Bill and Vera were very involved in supporting and growing the Boys Scouts of America, Campfire Girls and the Tideriders swim program currently known as F.A.S.T. which was the first year-round swim program in Fort Collins. She was also an avid outdoorsman and traveled and went on Safari in Africa, British Columbia and Alaska.As an artist, Vera created many beautiful paintings using both oils and watercolors as well as quilting patterns for her many quilting friends. She also enjoyed her Hawaiian quilting group, playing mahjong with her close friends, was a member of the Busy Bees Club, and a supporter for many years of the Great Books program in Fort Collins.One of the most beautiful people to grace this earth, Vera was a woman of dignity and poise; of intelligence and curiosity; of generosity and compassion. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.Those who remain to honor her memory include three sons, Bill Wyatt and his wife, Marcia, of Kremmling, Norman Wyatt and his wife, Ronni, of Bellevue, and David Wyatt and his wife, Annika, of Longmont; and two daughters, Paris Llanso and her husband, Thomas, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Randa Wyatt of Longmont. She is further survived by nine grandchildren, Meegan Llanso, Kelly Wyatt, Ryan Llanso, Ross Wyatt, Sydney Wyatt, Sean Wyatt, Layton Sealman, Dustin Aragon, and Brianna Aragon.She was preceded in death by her parents, and by two older brothers who always called her ""Sis"", Don and Bobby Beshears.Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services, Longmont.
