Victoria was born on May 8, 1953, in Windsor, Colorado, to the late Victor Schanhals and Helen (Winick) Schanhals. Never one to miss adventure, she eloped to New Mexico with late husband Richard J. Slager before returning to Colorado to raise her family in Johnstown. She was a lifelong learner, earning her GED and later an Associate’s Degree from Front Range Community College.
Throughout her life, Victoria was known for her industrious nature and her heart for service. She balanced the roles of a stay-at-home mother and a business owner, operating a local cleaning service. She also dedicated much of her time to caring for the developmentally disabled. In 1995, she moved to the Longmont area, where she remained a long-time resident.
Victoria found joy in the natural world, maintaining a deep love for plants and animals. She also possessed a spirited curiosity for the supernatural and all things unexplained.
She is survived by her husband, Abdelkarim Chaik of Longmont. She is also survived by her children: sons Victor J. Slager and Dustin R. Slager; and daughter Penny M. Abdalla. Her memory lives on through her sister, Donna Schmidt of Windsor; four grandchildren: Samuel Wyatt Slager, Jacob Michael Slager, Caden Richard Ryan Slager, and Zain Amr Abdalla; and her great-grandchild, Ezra Lloyd Slager.
Victoria was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Ronald Meyer, and her first husband, Richard J. Slager.
Victoria will be deeply missed and cherished forever in our hearts.
