
Vincent A. Barr, 101, formerly of Frankfort passed away July 15, 2013 in Arvada, Colorado.Vincent lived in Frankfort for 99 years until he moved to Denver, CO in 2010, to be with his daughters Nelle and Betty. Vincent was an active member of the Frankfort community, following the example of his family heritage.Vincent was born on Logan Street in 1911. His father was Joseph Barr, a physician on Ann Street; his grandfather was Vincent A. Kaltenburn II, a dentist with an office on Main Street; and his great-grandfather was Vincent A Kaltenbrun, a harness-maker on St Clair. His maternal great uncle was Phillip Weisenberger who ran the mill in Midway.Vincent served as Chief Dental Officer, South Pacific Base Command, during WWII. He was a graduate of Good Shepherd High School, Transylvania College and the University of Louisville College of Dentistry in 1937. He was active in the Church of The Good Shepherd, the Knights of Columbus and held many officerships in local dental societies. He received many honors throughout his career.Although he retired from his Frankfort practice in 1976, he continued to provide the dental care for the monks of The Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani outside of Bardstown from 1965 to 2001 in the clinic he established and maintained until his death.He was an active advocate and supporter of the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry where his daughters Betty and Nelle graduated.Vincent was married to Mary Shaw Barr in 1947 until her death in 2008. He is survived by his three daughters, Susan Edwards of Sandpoint, ID, Nelle Vincent Barr of Longmont, CO, and Betty (Elizabeth Shaw) Barr of Arvada, CO. He has two grandchildren, Roy Edwards of Moscow, ID and Annie Edwards of Sandpoint.A memorial service will be held in Frankfort for his internment in the Frankfort Cemetery later this summer.
