Wade graduated from Port Hope High School, Class of 1955. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Air Force. After serving, he returned to Port Hope, Michigan to work on his Stepfather & Mother’s beehive apiary. He also met his wife Naomi Bertha Frey shortly after he left the Air Force. They married in 1958, enjoyed 51 years of marriage, settling in Denver, Colorado.
Together they raised 7 children: 6 boys Wade Jr, Peter, Timothy, James, Matthew & Steven, and one daughter Elizabeth. His greatest love was his family, spending time with his children, their spouses, 25 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren. He had many friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews that he loved to spend time with.
He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, garage sales, singing, and volunteering at the church. He often visited the elderly in the church bringing them the fresh catch of the day! He made sure that if they needed help that they were taken care of. He was known for his kind, compassionate, and signature goofy spirit. His silly faces and antics will be missed but not forgotten. Neither will his love of card games, he will be remembered each time a deck is shuffled.
He loved animals and they loved him. The ducks where he fished would follow him around the lake it was quite a sight. Dogs, cats, and even a couple of goats could barely wait for the treats which he always brought in his front pocket. Once he brought home a monkey from a pet shop much to the dismay of his wife, needless to say that didn’t last long. The stories of pet pigs and other furry friends are for another time.
He loved the Lord and knew Jesus, so heaven is celebrating his homecoming and reunion with those who have gone before him.
He will always be remembered as a loving and caring Son, Brother, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Uncle, and friend. While he will be missed, his legacy will continue.
A celebration of his life will be held later, with many more stories to come.
