Wes spent much of his youth exploring the mountains of Snowy Range and fishing in the streams around Ryan Park, Wyoming where he also helped build the family log cabin. Wes always had a special place in his heart for Wyoming.

Wes was active in their parish of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where he was a lector for many years and served on the Parish Council as well as facilitating in Marriage Preparation for engaged couples. Wes and Margie made their Marriage Encounter weekend in 1975 and over the next 10 years were part of countless weekends helping other couples build strong, lasting relationships. They enjoyed many activities together but most especially dancing.
Wes was an accomplished wood worker and learned construction where he spent countless hours updating their home in Longmont and at their mountain home creating a place aptly called “heavens back door” spending as much time as possible there, bringing them and the family peace and quiet.
