Bill was born January 30, 1947 in Denver, CO to the late Wilbur and Frances (Stanich) Checkas. He was a very active in his younger years. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, camping, woodworking, as well as playing the trumpet. He was a very talented musician, being invited to play with some popular bands throughout the years. He was also a big sports fan. He enjoyed watching football and also NASCAR.
Bill is survived by his son Anthony Checkas and his wife Leni, his granddaughter, Jessica of Longmont.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Frances.
A memorial service will take place at 2:00 pm, on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the Howe Mortuary in Longmont with Deacon Bob Howard officiating.
