
William S. ˜Bill' Conard died March 30, 2011 at Longmont United Hospital. He was 78.He was born March 15, 1933 in Hays, Kansas and grew up in Kansas with his parents Denwood and Eileen (Simminger) Conard.Bill attended the University of Kansas for two years following his graduation from high school in 1951. He enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving his country for two years, after which he was Honorably Discharged. He returned to KU and earned a degree in business, graduating in 1958.He married DeLoris Lea Rust on August 26, 1972 at Peace Lutheran Church in Arvada. Bill and DeLoris lived in Golden before moving to Longmont in 1981.Bill joined the Coors Brewery in 1960, working his way up to a Purchasing Director before his departure in 1977. The second half of Bill's career was spent at Storage Technology, where he worked as a Purchasing Manager, retiring in 1994. Bill was a Past President and life member of the Purchasing Manager's Association of Denver.Bill had two main hobbies: he was an accomplished trombonist, as well as an avid fly fisherman. As a trombonist, he was a member of the Denver Concert Band, the Boulder Concert Band, Swing, Inc and Jazz West. His fly fishing took him all over Colorado and is a legacy he passed on to all three of his kids. Bill was also an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church where he was an Elder and member of the choir.He is survived by his wife, DeLoris, three children, Chris Conard (Tia-Lisa), Carin Lockhart (Dan) both of Littleton and Curt Conard (Robin) of Chicago, Ill., eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many close friends.Memorial services will be held Thursday, April 7th at 1:30pm at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Longmont Humane Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
