William Alson “Bill” Rose passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 27, 2021. Bill was born July 26, 1939 at the family farm in Moravia, Iowa with the assistance of a midwife to Madelyn (Calhoun) and Lloyd Rose. He attended Moravia High School where he lettered in basketball and baseball. He graduated in 1957. He met Judie (Wagner), the love of his life, in September of 1958 and they were married December 31st of that same year. As a boy, Bill was on a family trip and fell in love with Colorado and decided at that time he would eventually move here - which he and Judie did in April, 1962.
Bill worked for Coors Porcelain upon moving to Lakewood and in 1966 accepted a position with IBM where he spent the majority of his career, retiring July 26, 1994. At one point he worked three jobs to support his growing family. His favorite interests were bowling, camping, metal detecting, traveling and taking cruises to many locations. He enjoyed watching football, specifically the Denver Broncos; baseball (the St. Louis Cardinals were his favorite team) and NASCAR races. His lawn was his pride and joy, and it was always perfect! He and Judie worked tirelessly on their lawn and flowers and it was truly a showpiece. Together, Bill and Judie, along with Bill’s brother Merton and his wife Vada, went on sixteen cruise ship adventures all over the world. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was also a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Bill and Judie raised five daughters: Barbara (Paul) Reffitt of Lampe, MO; Brenda (Rick) Norem of Bowler, WI; Julie (Brian) Boelsterli of Plano, TX; JoEllen (Paul) Gonzales of Longmont; and Jill Rose Franklund also of Longmont. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Judie, his five daughters and sons-in-law, twenty-one grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Merton (Vada) Rose of Taylor, TX; Linda Mahon of Albia, IA; Rosanne (Jeff) Puck of Rock Island, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Doris Wagner; father-in-law, Francis “Bud” Wagner; sister, Marilyn Sears; brother-in-law, Don Sears; brother-in-law, Butch Mahon; brother-in-law, Dean Wagner; sister-in-law, Patty Wagner; and son-in-law, Scott Franklund.
