Betty retired from both Jefferson County Board of Education, where she served in the lunchroom at Stuart Middle School. She later retired from Kroger (meat department, dairy, and grocery) serving more than 25 years at each employer. Betty loved to talk and have conversations with people, whether it be a co-worker, or shoppers in the isles. She had a nack for turnng a simple trip for mustard into a 45 minute story because she would give you every detail about the experience.
In retirement Betty enjoyed watching various homesteading videos and loved everything crafty. In her younger years, Betty would crochet various items and give to co-workers and relatives as gifts. Betty loved her grandchildren and enjoyed feeding them anything they wanted and occasionaly have a new toy on hand when they visited.
Growing up Betty and her Brothers had the typical sibling relationship. They cared for one another, played together, and had their disagreements. The one thing they all shared was LOVE. They all LOVED one another, sometimes showed it differently, but they loved each other nonetheless. They could argue one day and not speak for days, but if one needed the other, they were there for each other.
Betty didnt travel too far from home. Outside of necessary errands like grocery shopping, trip to the bank, or visiting a relative or friend, she liked the comfort of her own home, a slow pace of life and old TV shows like Murder She Wrote, and pretty much anything on GRIT.
Betty will always be remembered for her unwavering unconditional love for her Son, and her grandchildren! Her stories, sense of humor, and her toughness. Betty endured the loss of a son early in life, the loss of her parents and all of her brothers. Betty was a single mother and worked two jobs to provide for her and her son, with no other help outside of family love. She was resilient and overcame so much.
