Hunter was born on April 25, 2000 to Tangela Dunifin and Jason Summers in Louisville KY. He passed away on February 22, 2018 due to complications from surgery to remove a rare form of brain cancer called pineoblastoma.
So much can be said about Hunter Ellis Summers. If we listed them all we would all be reading until our own funerals, so here are just a few. He was funny in a way that you couldn't be around him without having a smile on your face, and you would always walk away from him laughing.
Hunter was a senior at PRP High School, played the cello and was heavily involved in their orchestra, as well as being a member of the Louisville Youth Orchestra. Hunter was dedicated to his love of music, and he never stopped practicing unless he was on his bike; and even then he no doubt played in his head whilst riding around town.
Hunter also thoroughly loved the outdoors. He and his dad spent time hunting, fishing, and riding ATVs. Hunter also loved to camp and kayak with his mother and sisters. He was an avid bike rider, and loved to try new and, of course, dangerous stunts. He was crazy in the way that he would jump off of the top of sheds and garages trying out different bike tricks. Yes, that kind of crazy. The kind of crazy that makes your heart stop when he tells you what he did.
Throughout his 17 years, Hunter touched many lives in many ways, and was one of the kindest people you would have ever met. If someone was in need, he would be the first to help them. Hunter was protective of his friends and family, and he never let anyone get away with harming anyone else.
Hunter was a truly amazing kid. He is survived by his mother and his father, Tangela Dunifin and Jason Summers, as well as three sisters, Brianah Summers, Autumn Summers, and Chloe Summers, and a nephew, Ehzura Summers. He is also survived by a cousin, Dailen Jenkins, that was more like a brother than any. He will be loved and missed until the end of time.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the orchestra program at PRP High School. As Hunter said, “the show must go on”.
