It is with a heavy heart that the family of Paul Borders announce his passing on February 23, 2025. Paul fought a long and courageous battle with bronchiectasis, a chronic, progressive lung disease that developed in childhood.
Despite having this chronic illness nearly all his life, Paul handled it with grace and always with a positive outlook. He did research and attended support groups, staying up-to-date on new treatments and even went to London, England to attend a bronchiectasis conference. He remained proactive with his care and on occasion, taught a few of his doctors a thing or two.
Paul was a lifelong Christian and never faltered during his walk with the Lord. The knowledge of his faithfulness has given Paul’s family and friends peace with the realization that Paul is now in the presence of God and has been reunited with his mother, Joyce, his father, Edward and his older brother, Rocky.
Paul was a 1977 graduate of Western High School and supported the athletic program whenever possible. He was also a member of the Western High School Alumni Association and helped organize several Class of ‘77 reunions. Paul was always glad to see fellow classmates and kept in touch with many throughout the years.
Paul became an organ donor several years ago and with his death, he has given others a chance for improved health and an opportunity to carry on Paul’s legacy as well as their own. Paul would encourage others to consider organ donation as well. Visit donatelife.net or registerme.org for more information.
Paul will be missed so very much by his sisters, Michelle"Mickey" Hartlage and Lisa Barber (Ronnie), brothers Larry (Tina) & Terry (Lisa) as well as many loving nieces, nephews and cousins, extended family members and innumerable friends. Who’s going to keep us laughing with all those corny jokes and cartoons he always posted on FaceBook?
Paul, we love you. I love you. Thanks for asking me to the prom way back in 1977. What a night, and what a friendship we’ve had.
A visitation for Paul will be held Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Advantage Funeral Home Hardy Chapel and Cremation Services, 10907 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY 40272. His funeral service will be Friday, February 28, 2025 at 12:30. Graveside service will be Friday at Louisville Memorial Gardens West, 4400 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40216.
