

Richard F. “Dickie” Hollis, Jr., 55, of Louisville, passed away Friday, December 25, 2009 at University Hospital with loving family and friends at his side.He served as director for the Jefferson County Clerk’s office with great friend and County Clerk Bobbie Holsclaw. Prior to that, he worked as a welder for the CSX railroad at the Louisville train yard and as an assistant in the Jefferson County Public School system. He loved politics and served previously as an at-large member of the Republican Party of Kentucky and as the 29th LD chairman for the Jefferson County Republican Party. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a Kentucky Colonel. He also served as a disaster worker for the Southwest chapter of the American Red Cross.Richard was a kind and generous man who never knew a stranger. He was a loving father and husband who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard F. Hollis , Sr. and Helen Powell Hollis.He leaves behind his devoted wife Cindy Hollis (VanNatta); a daughter, Kellie Capo (Michael); two sons, Richard F. Hollis III and Todd Andrew Hollis (Mallory); a sister, Elaine Sodd; a granddaughter, Ava Madison Hollis; and his beloved pets Mollie and Lucky.His funeral service will be held at 12:00 Wednesday at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway, followed by burial at Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 pm Tuesday.In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Wayside Christian Mission or the American Red Cross.
