Shirley Jean Adkins, age 88, passed away suddenly on May 27, 2026, at Baptist East Hospital having been born on April 21, 1938, and residing in Louisville, Kentucky.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Debbie Wright (Tom), Vickie Williams, and Sherry Chris Sanders (Mike), and her son, Michael Monroe (Beth), as well as her sister, Martha Gonzalez (Richard); eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her spouse, John W. Adkins; her father, Loscoe Cartwright; her mother, Evelyn Cartwright; her brothers, Glen Cartwright and Larry Cartwright; and her son-in-law, Ralph Williams.

Visitation will take place at Advantage Heady-Dixie, 7710 Dixie Hwy on Wednesday, June 3 from 12:00 pm until 7:00 pm. The funeral service will take place Thursday, June 4 at 11:00 am and burial immediately following at Evergreen Cemetery.
