Gary, a devoted family man and retired electrician of the Regional Airport Authority, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and service to others.
Known to many simply as Gary, he was passionate about hotrods, history, and collecting firearms. He found joy in fellowship through Bible study and was always quick to lend a hand to anyone in need. His warmth and selflessness touched countless lives.
Gary was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Anna Rose Allgood, and his loving parents, William Chester and Rachel Allgood. He is survived by his daughters, Karen Schaefer and Amy Rogers (Terry); his cherished grandchildren, Katharine Schaefer Cooper (Alex), William Zachary Rogers, Lucas Rogers (Noel), Andy Rogers, and Emily Rogers; and his sisters, Sharon Kirby (George) and Lois Jackson.
In honoring Gary’s generous spirit, the family kindly asks that donations be made in his memory to causes close to his heart: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Kentucky Humane Society.
A visitation for Gary will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Advantage Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 10907 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, Kentucky 40272. A funeral will take place at the same location at 11:00 AM followed by a burial at Bethany Memorial Cemetery.
