Alice Luce

Services for Alice A. (Smith) Luce, 84, of Lufkin, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2013 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Benjamin Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Luce was born May 30, 1928 in Kickapoo, Texas, the daughter of the late Annie (Clark) and Cody Smith. She went to meet her soul mate, Crockett Luce, on Friday, January 11, 2013, on what would have been their 64th wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Luce was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to crochet and to be with her family. Mrs. Luce was employed for 20 years as a medication aide with Lufkin State School. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Dennis Wilkins of Trinity and Mary Beth and Dominick Aiello of Georgetown; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Debbie Luce of Huntsville and Eddie Wayne and Revel Luce of Morganton, Georgia; 13 grandchildren, Connie Stout, Scotty Wilkins, Cody Wilkins, Jesse Wilkins, Jennifer Dendy, Kristy Russ, Misty Wzalinski, Jessica Luce, Rachel Clark, Leah Clark, Amanda Plunk, Rebecca Phillips and Austin Plunk; 25 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Oneta and Bill Jones; and a number of other family members.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Luce was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Dharma Wilhite; and sister, Molly Wilburn.

Pallbearers are Cody Wilkins, Jesse Wilkins, Austin Plunk, Benjamin Phillips,John Dendy and Joe Russ.

Honorary pallbearer will be Scotty Wilkins.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
