

Services for Autry Lee Walton, 81, of Lufkin, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 21, 2013 at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Bro. Blackie Cranford officiating. Interment will follow at the same location.
The son of Thomas Lela (Gray) and Lee Walton, Autry was born May 29, 1932, in Newton, Texas. He passed away October 18, 2013 at his residence.
He served his country in the United States Army as a Military Policeman. After being honorably discharged, Autry went on to work for the Texas Highway Department and for KTRE, where he was one of the original employees and helped build the station.
Autry Walton was truly a renaissance man. He loved to work with his hands and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved to fish on Sam Rayburn and worked on radios and televisions as well. Yet, he held nothing above his family.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Jean Walton, Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Leta Darlene Walton and Peter Haring; granddaughters, Kristen Denise Haring and Jennifer Ashley Haring; grandson, Thomas Lee Haring, all of Mobile, AL; sister-in-law, Nelta Ann Devine of Ft. Worth, TX; and aunt, Margie Lee Cousins of Newton, TX.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded by a sister, Wanda Amburn.
Honorary pallbearer is Dean Lee.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
