

Barbara Jean Stevens Rector, 71, of Lufkin, was born March 27, 1939 in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of the late Frances Weltha (Stevens) and Sterling Krout. She passed away Thursday, September 2, 2010 at her residence.
Mrs. Rector moved to Texas from California in 1955. She loved being outdoors and fishing. She was active in working with the youth in her church, with Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and was a foster parent. She played bluegrass with the Southern Country Band. She had previously worked for Gay Products in Nacogdoches, various places in the Lufkin Mall, and for Brookshire Brothers. Mrs. Rector was a member of Mt Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Rector of Lufkin, whom she married on November 6, 1954; daughter, Debbie White and husband Gary of Pollok; sons, Wesley Rector of Lufkin, Sidney Rector and wife Debbie of Granite Shoals, Robert "Bosco" Rector of Lufkin; and James Rector of Escondido, California; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Bonnie Holloway and husband Larry of Lufkin and Jackie Phillips and husband Bill of Sacramento, California; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and other family members.
Pallbearers will be James Hahn, Jimmy Burrell, Dennis Ketchum, Jeff Ketchum, Barry Burch and Bob Lee.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Griffith, Melvin Bloyer, Luther Solle, and the Deacons and Yokefellows of Lakewood Baptist Church.
Services for Mrs. Rector will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 5, 2010 in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, with Bro. Keith Woolf and Bro. Bill Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.
