

Betty was born on September 15, 1934, in San Antonio, Texas, to Leonard and Elida Maldonado. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Ernest Huizar, and her siblings, Nora Pena, Ruth Maldonado, Rosa, and Guadalupe Ramirez Jr.
Betty had a generous and caring heart, always finding joy in helping others. She loved cooking for her family and friends—her kitchen was a place of laughter, warmth, and the comforting smells of home-cooked meals that will be remembered fondly by all who enjoyed them. Throughout her life, she held many meaningful jobs, including working as a janitor at Diboll ISD and in logging processing at Temple Inland in Diboll, where her hard work and dedication left a lasting impact.
She is survived by her children, Ernest Huizar and his wife Irma, Dora Whitehead and her husband Eddie, Johnny Huizar and his wife Helen, and Robert Huizar; her grandchildren, Willie Vasquez, Jessica Garza, Michael Whitehead, and Luther Whitehead; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family who will carry her memory in their hearts.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Parkwood In The Pines and Heart to Heart Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided.
The family will receive guests on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Gipson Funeral Home. A Rosary Prayer Service will be held during visitation from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 100 Maynard St, Diboll, TX 75941.
Betty will be laid to rest at Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Willie Vasquez, Ricardo Garza, Efren Vasquez, Ricky Garza, Corbon DuBose, and Angel DeLeon.
Betty’s family invites all who knew her to join them in celebrating a life filled with love, devotion, kindness, and countless cherished memories. Her warmth, generosity, and delicious meals will be remembered by all who had the joy of knowing her.
