Betty Segrest

Services for Betty G. Segrest, 79, of Lufkin, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2015 at Eastview United Pentecostal Church, with Reverend David Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Segrest was born September 2, 1936 in Jacksonville, Florida, the daughter of the late Alma Glades (Wolfe) and Arthur William Herbertson. She passed away Monday, October 5, 2015 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Segrest was born and attended school in Jacksonville, Florida. She married Cloy Hubert Segrest on June 1, 1957. Mr. Segrest was in the United States Navy, so they traveled with the Navy. They moved to Lufkin in 1971. Mrs. Segrest worked at Lufkin State School and Progressive Living Center. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and her church and friends. She enjoyed flowers, watching hummingbirds, and gospel music. She had tons of recipes and loved cooking.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Mike Risley of Colleyville; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Kevin and Robyn Segrest of Lufkin and Mike and Iva Segrest of Huntington; daughter, Susan Hopper of Garland; 11 grandchildren, Heather, Matt, Jared, Brian, Jacob, Shalisha, Steven, Dustin, Felicia, Allen, and Brandon; 4 great-grandchildren, and a number of other family members.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Segrest was preceded in death by her husband, Cloy Hubert Segrest; son, Steven Wayne Segrest; and brother, David Herbertson.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
