Billie Rue White

Billie was married to Adolphus Herndon White III on January 13, 1949, in Houston, Texas. Later, on April 13, 1952, she was baptized at Market Street Baptist Church, where she reaffirmed her faith.

Throughout her life, Ms. Billie was known for her dedication to her family and community. She worked as a cook at Richey Elementary School in Pasadena, Texas, from 1972 to 1977. Ms. Billie then spent time at Hughes Oil Company as a diesel fueler from 1977 to 1979 in Corrigan, Texas. In 1979, she joined Polk Oil Company, where she managed a convenience store until her retirement in 2012.

Ms. Billie was a cherished member of her community, and her warm heart, hard work, and kindness will be remembered by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Gipson Funeral Home in Lufkin, Texas. Her funeral service will take place on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Gipson Funeral Home, with a private interment to follow at Dew Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice in the Pines.

She is survived by her daughter Kay Lynn White of Lufkin, Texas, her son Jerry Wyann White of Huntington, Texas, her twin brother, Johnny Hue Ellis of Bastrop, Texas, 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Adolphus Herndon White III, her daughters Billie Janelle Harvey, Susan Wanelle Ellis, and Barbara Ann Rawls, Her sister Clara Mae White, her brothers Roddof Ellis, Hiram Ellis, Harvey Lee Ellis, and Little Rich Ellis.

Billie Rue White will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her. May she rest in peace.
