Bobby Joab Layton

Mr. Layton obtained his High School Diploma from Douglass ISD and his Associate’s Degree in Business at Massey Business College. He worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for 27 years before his retirement in 1992. He was an avid bowler, guitarist, and country music fan.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Billy Layton, Curtis “Sam” Layton, and Grady Layton.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nora Layton of Diboll; daughter, Deanna Layton Lane of Lufkin; son, Brian Layton and wife Teresa of Pollok; brother, Jewel Layton of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Mercedes Bara, Maverick Murray, Shelby Wilson and husband Corey, Jakob Layton, and Joshua Layton; and great-grandchildren, Ryder Rios, Tye Wilson, and Brian Wilson.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Gipson Funeral Home in Lufkin. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 pm at Whitehouse Cemetery in Lufkin officiated by Corey Wilson.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jakob Layton, Joshua Layton, Maverick Murray, Corey Wilson, Jimmy Cathey, and Brandon Johnson.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gipson Funeral Home, Lufkin.
