Bobby Ross McClendon

Services for Bobby Ross McClendon, 80, of Lufkin, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2015 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.

Mr. McClendon was born June 24, 1934 in Lufkin, Texas, the son of the late Gracie (Havard) and Clifford McClendon. He passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015 in a local hospital.

He enjoyed being with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was once ranked fourth in the state of Texas as a master mechanic. Bobby enjoyed working on cars, boats and motorcycles and loved the open road. He also enjoyed fishing. He was retired as a service manager in the auto mechanics industry and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Smithheart Brookshire and Claude, Sandra Ortiz and Roy, all of Lufkin and Kari Mays of Brazoria; granddaughter and her husband, Lisa Murphy and Sean; grandsons and their wives, Lance Ortiz and D’ann, Blake Ortiz and Caylan, Josh Smithheart and Jody, Dakota Chupp, Mayson Chupp; great-granddaughter, Bailey; great-grandsons, Drew, Austin, Issac, Craig, Aiden and Jude; sister, Joyce Vandergrifft of Freeport; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. McClendon was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Jo McClendon; and brother, Gene McClendon.

Pallbearers will be Josh Smithheart, Blake Ortiz, Lance Ortiz, Sean Murphy, Mark McClendon and Larry McClendon.

The family gives special thanks to Hospice in the Pines and the caregivers who came to the house.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
